 | Ursuline Academy Music Building The new Ursuline Academy Music Building is the first structure on campus designed and built specifically for music instruction. The Music Building provides long-needed facilities including a large rehearsal hall, spaces for individual and ensemble student practice, a music library, office space, and storage. A LEED facility (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), the new building exceeds high standards for energy efficiency, water conservation, and enhanced acoustical performance. It also offers students hands-on access to the latest technologies including computerized composition and theory software. Located next to UCPA | Braniff, the Music Building completes a vibrant new hub for performing arts at Ursuline Academy. For the first time, performing arts faculty and students is centralized in one area of the campus, inspiring new excitement and achievement in instruction and performance. |
| Like the new French Family Center, Ursuline's new Music Building has been designed with sustainability in mind to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. |
A Better Facility For Better Learning The heart of the new Music Building is its central rehearsal area; measuring approximately 1,800 square feet, it seats about 100 people. Special acoustic panels allow the room to be ‘tuned’ for the type of music being played in the space. Each year, about 250 Ursuline students will use this area to participate in the school’s orchestra, three choirs, musical theater, color guard and band.
Music theory and ensemble classes will be held in the computer-equipped MIDI/music theory classroom. Its PC workstations run software for music theory, music composition and MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface).
The music library will provide for comfortable access to the school’s extensive collection of orchestral, band, musical theater, and vocal music. A dedicated practice room will enable individual students to work on vocal and instrumental music. The choir storage room will provide storage space for robes and concert dress.
The Music Building is fully equipped with advanced technology including audio visual and wireless network. The new building’s infrastructure is also designed to support recording equipment.
